It’s gray. It’s rainy. It’s time to jump in the car and go someplace else.  At just a short hour and change from the Queen City, Louisville is a fantastic choice. Last weekend I did just that, and if you are so inclined, here are some not to miss spots on Market Street, the up and coming place to be.

Start here: Please and Thank You is a charming coffee and record shop. Sip an amazing Thai iced coffee and a enjoy piece of  perfectly spiced pumpkin bread. Get a chocolate chip cookie for later. You know how proud I am of my chocolate chip cookies, and I am hard pressed to think of another CC cookie I have ever enjoyed more.  They are heavy on the sugar which makes them extra chewy with slabs of semisweet chocolate inside rather than chips.  Get two and bring one home for me…pretty please. Here’s a new way to do lunch meetings: the eat well bento box. Skip the disposable plates and paper boxes—this is a boxed lunch with style. The best part is everyone feels like they are getting a present for lunch; they just unwrap (take off the top) and indulge.  Menu options available:

  • Indonesian ginger grilled chicken or teriyaki organic salmon
  • Rice or soba noodles with rice wine vinaigrette, snap peas, cilantro and carrot
  • Wok-charred green beans or sesame broccoli
  • Cucumber, papaya, and mint salad
  • Vietnamese vegetable rolls with spicy peanut sauce. [click to read more...]

Last night’s favorite passed appetizer at the CAC was our vegetable pakoras made with zucchini, potato, carrot and gram flour. We served them with cilantro chutney which was spicy and a little sweet.  “Realms of Intimacy” opens tonight at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center!

I had to share these stunning photos of a beautiful summer dinner party staged by the eat well team. Even though held in the cool air conditioned boardroom at Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center, the room still carried off that breezy, outdoor feeling. With white linen tablecloths and napkins, fresh yellow orchids, and dark wood chargers [...]
